About us |
We both consider ourselves extremely fortunate that we get to obsess over marine life all day, every day, and call it a job. I (Rebecca or Bex) am the Conservation & Education Manager which in a nutshell means that I am constantly trying to find new ways for the aquarium to educate the thousands of guests visiting the aquarium each day about incredible creatures, threats to our oceans and above all else what they can do to help protect marine life. This role has given me many opportunities over the years to work with and support some fantastic conservation charities including the Manta Trust. I am obsessed with sharks and all marine life, I love scuba diving, the ocean and (much to Graham’s dismay) the music of KISS.
Graham works on the Aquarist Team as the Displays Curator. This means that he manages the team who care for over 600 marine and freshwater species and build and maintain the complex life support systems that control a variety of habitats and contain over 2.5 million litres of water. He is also a keen diver, marine life enthusiast and conservationist at heart. He likes frogs. A lot. And moss. Graham is less into fire breathing, blood spitting glam rock, he’s more of a Smiths kind of guy. |
Why we are here |
After over five years at the aquarium we are both ready for a new challenge. We are eager for the chance to get stuck into some hands on conservation work in the field and to soak up a little sunshine in the process. So here we are! This blog will document our experiences, learnings and progress so we hope you’ll drop by sometimes to see how we’re getting on.
